Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

Your training data stays under your control. RowPulser stores app settings and workout information on your devices. It does not automatically upload your health information or diagnostic logs to a RowPulser server. Sending a diagnostic report is your choice. Website beta-test signups are separate: the details you submit are sent to us through Formspree.

This policy covers RowPulser’s Android app, the iPhone and Apple Watch features described below, and rowpulser.com. Features vary by platform and app version. RowPulser is developed by Patrick Boyle. For privacy enquiries, contact patcvb@gmail.com.

1. Data used within the app

Depending on the features you use, RowPulser processes:

You can use the timers without completing a profile or connecting a heart-rate sensor. RowPulser does not require a RowPulser user account. The current apps do not include advertising or third-party advertising/analytics trackers, and we do not sell your personal or health information.

Android permissions: Bluetooth permissions support sensor discovery and connection. On older Android versions, scanning may require location permission and Location to be enabled. RowPulser uses this for Bluetooth discovery and does not record GPS coordinates. A foreground-service notification supports an active sensor connection during app switching or screen lock.

iPhone and Apple Watch: where you choose supported Apple Health features and grant permission, RowPulser may read resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep and workout records to provide profile or readiness features. Apple Watch features may read live heart rate, send it to your paired iPhone and save a workout to Apple Health with your permission. This processing is for your training features, not advertising. You can manage or revoke Health access through your device’s Health/privacy settings.

Device storage and backups: profile settings and workout history are stored on your device. Your operating system may include app data in device backups or transfers according to your settings and its provider’s policies. RowPulser does not operate its own cloud health-data synchronisation service.

2. Optional diagnostic reports

The Android diagnostic event log is created locally when a workout session begins. A new session replaces the previous log. It retains up to 500 recent events and records when older events have been dropped.

The log can include app version/build, Android version and support classification, phone manufacturer/model, display configuration, timestamps, workout timings and target-zone settings, screens visited, session events, and Bluetooth connection or data-availability events and errors.

It excludes detailed heart-rate measurements, athlete-profile values, custom workout names and notes, Bluetooth addresses, names, email addresses and precise location. Exact sensor manufacturer/model and watch software may be unavailable and are identified as such rather than guessed.

Nothing is sent automatically. If you choose Share log in Settings, Android lets you choose the receiving app and destination. You decide whether to complete the transfer. The receiving service handles the transfer under its own privacy and security practices. If you send a report to us, we use it, together with any contact details you provide in that message, to investigate your issue and reply. The Android diagnostic preferences are excluded from the app’s configured cloud-backup and device-transfer rules.

Please review a report before sending it and avoid adding health or personal information that is not needed for support. Any future automated diagnostic upload or support service will require an updated explanation of its data handling.

3. Website beta-test signups

If you sign up through rowpulser.com, we receive the name, email address and platform choice (Android or iOS) that you enter, along with your agreement to be contacted about beta testing. The form uses Formspree to receive and deliver the submission.

We use these details to organise testing, contact you about available places, send participation instructions and communicate about your beta experience. Signing up does not create an app account or guarantee a testing place. It does not authorise unrelated marketing emails. You can withdraw by emailing patcvb@gmail.com.

The signup form does not request workout history, heart-rate readings or health records. If you separately send us feedback or a support email, we receive the information you choose to include.

4. Website services and technical information

The website is delivered through Cloudflare. Hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, request time and security logs to deliver and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

The demo uses an embedded YouTube player on youtube-nocookie.com. Loading or playing the embed can connect your browser to Google/YouTube and disclose technical information such as your IP address and browser/device details. This is separate from app health data. Google describes its handling in its privacy policy.

Formspree and its infrastructure may also process submission-related technical information to deliver the form and prevent abuse. RowPulser does not add its own advertising cookies or analytics scripts. Embedded services may use storage or similar technologies under their own policies.

These providers may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Their privacy policies explain their international processing and applicable safeguards. Our use of website services does not give them access to locally stored app workouts or health records.

5. Purposes and legal bases

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for optional beta-test emails and optional health-data features; our legitimate interests in responding to requests, resolving problems and operating a secure website; and legal obligations where applicable. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.

We use health information only to provide the health and fitness features you choose. We do not use Apple Health information for advertising or sell it to data brokers.

6. Retention and deletion

To request deletion of beta-signup details or reports you have sent us, email patcvb@gmail.com. We may need enough information to identify the relevant submission. We cannot remotely access or delete data that exists only on your device.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal information we hold, object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. Contact us using the address above. You can also raise a concern with your local data-protection authority, including Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.

You control device permissions, whether to complete a profile, whether to connect a sensor, and whether to share a diagnostic report. Beta participation is voluntary. The current beta-signup programme is intended for people aged 16 and over; please contact us if you believe a younger person has submitted personal information.

8. Security and policy updates

We limit access to information received for beta administration and support to those who need it for those purposes, and use the security controls provided by our hosting, form and email services. No system or transfer can be guaranteed completely secure. The security of a user-chosen diagnostic-sharing route depends on the receiving app and service.

We will update this page when relevant features or data practices change. The date above identifies the current policy. Material new uses of information will be explained and consent sought where required.
